DC Black Invites TMBA Listeners to Join, Personality Disorders, and Business Finance
Part of this week’s TMBA Episode is about personality disorders (of all things!).
Have you ever had somebody move through your life or business that takes up an inordinate amount of energy? Constantly creates drama and conflict? Makes you feel like you’re walking on eggshells? Or even worse?
It should go without saying, I don’t know much about psychology.
But, having a framework for identifying and dealing with people who have (what is now called) personality disorders would have been tremendously useful to me in my 20's/30's.
Just like knowing about biases, identifying the types of people you 'just can’t reason with’ or force you to 'walk on eggshells’ or are ‘playing by different rules' is tremendously useful.

Last week we opened a brand new community for 7 and 8-figure founders. we’re calling it “DC Black.”
We’ve received a bunch of questions this week! There’s not a ton of information about this new community yet (beyond what we’ve posted on our website), so feel free to reply to this email (it goes to me directly) if you have any questions.
The idea behind DC Black isn’t a new one, in fact, it’s probably the most requested product I’ve heard from listeners of the pod over the past 5 years.
Founders who’ve reached a certain level will say, "Why isn't there a version of the DC that caters to higher revenue companies?”
Many of our listeners join other communities like EO, YPO, Vistage, or Hampton and come back and say “Can we get a version of that but with DC vibes?”
So we’re building it now. If you’re curious about it you can give us a call or drop us an application.
Note there are requirements!
Last 12 months of revenue $1,000,000 or greater. We will ask for a signed P&L.
Must have the intention to grow and/or evolve in 2023.
All members will adhere to our community guidelines.
This is a paid mastermind, initial membership is $3900/annual (includes DC Membership)
We’ve noticed that most high-level founders only speak with a handful of equally successful founders on a monthly basis. If you join us as a founding member of this new community, that number should double overnight.
Every month you'll meet with a small group of members (5-7, facilitated by an executive coach, Ian or Clare).
Sessions are designed to move the ball forward for your business and will include traditional accountability hot seats as well as dives into business concepts using DC Black members as case studies.
All DC Black members will receive the option to participate in special events at our larger events plus smaller DC Black only events in the near future.
How to apply
There is an application and onboarding process to make sure that participants are a good fit, placed in strong mastermind groups, and well-connected with other DC Black members.

There are currently 30 of us ready to get started in June, we’ve got 20 open spots or we’ll shut down the doors on June 1st, whichever comes first.

Does it matter if I book a call or fill out the application?
If you qualify, the best approach is to fill out the application first and you’ll end up very quickly in a call with Clare and Ian where you’ll jump right down to business. Booking a call directly with Ian is okay too if you’ve got questions about the application process specific to your situation.
Are there going to be events?
Yes!
There will be a DC Black event before the end of 2023.
Some members have already volunteered to host a members-driven gathering as well.
DC Black members will have special functions at DCBKK (if you can make it).
Will I be exclusively paired with people in my industry?
We’ll be making matches first and foremost by the stage of scale and the specific challenges you’re facing. There will be some overlap in terms of industry/type of business, but not exclusively.
What if I don’t want to be in another mastermind?
It’s okay. Some high-net-worth members want to join simply for visibility and community, and we understand that. We won’t pressure you to join a mastermind and are happy to set you up with more conversational learning calls at your leisure. Either way, there’s a lot more going on, from a forum to events to deep dives into each other's businesses. , so we’re happy to have a special mastermind for those who don’t like masterminds.
Will you have a time for my area of the world?
We have a lot of interest from people based in Asia and Oceania, so we should be able to accommodate most time zone requests.
What’s going to happen the rest of the year?
We’re looking to get 50 founding companies in the group by June, and hopefully 100 founders by the end of the year.
Are DC dues included?
Yes! The total fee is $3900 a year.
